First Year Experience

Course Description

The First Year Experience course at Stevens is an introductory course for all new undergraduate students.  The course provides support and encouragement as students make the personal and academic transition into the University community.  It provides an opportunity for dialogue and discussion among peers, faculty and staff in a small group setting as students learn about themselves in the context of the Stevens experience.  Students will learn essential skills for success in college, including leadership skills, cultural competence, ethical decision-making, academic and career development skills, personal wellness, and how to access campus resources.  Using a flipped-classroom model, the course will engage students with active and exploratory learning strategies.
